My medical insurance as well as my wife's is covered by Medicare and a private insurer for our part C and D.
The federal government takes about $100.00 from both of our monthly checks for Medicare part B. We then pay $278.00 to a private insurer for part C each month which covers both of us. Part D which is for perscriptions is $35.00 each.
The total for the two of us is $548.00 each month which is $6,576.00 a year.
The Hudson School has announced that the top employies will now pay $136.00 per month for a family health insurance plan. This amounts to $1632.00 for the year.
There would seem to be an inbalance here since my wife and I receive around $2800.00 a month from Social Security and pay out almost 20% of that for healh insurance. We along with many other senior citicens are expected to dig in even deeper to offer an unreasonable perk to our school administration.
It is obvious that if our school system was expected to be run as a for profit business it would fail very fast.
