qualify for regionals

Hudson Equestrian Center’s Interscholastic Equestrian high school and middle school teams accumulated enough points on the flat (equitation) and over fences to qualify for the regional competition later in the month.

Many members also qualified as individuals on either the flat and jumping divisions or both divisions.

Swimmers fare well at

Championship Meet

The Hudson Explorers Aquatic Team sent 10 swimmers to the 2010 8-and-under Championship Meet Feb. 21 at Youngstown State University’s Beeghly Center.

This meet gives younger swimmers a chance to participate in a championship meet that is open only to the younger swimmers, where they have a chance to really showcase what they have learned during the short-course season.

Several swimmers posted-personal best times at this meet, which is a great accomplishment.

Swimmers in attendance included Rachel Ambroziak, Alexis Clampffer, Dom Dasher, Charlie Moffa, Elizabeth Mitalski, Bridget Sciartelli, Katie Stover, Kelsey Trecarichi, Caleb Tuckerman and Isabel Zelch.

Here’s how the HEAT swimmers fared in their respective events:

Ambroziak (age 8): fourth, 25-yard freestyle; sixth, 50-yard freestyle; eighth, 50-yard breaststroke; and ninth, 25-yard butterfly

Trecarichi (7): 11th, 25-yard backstroke; 18th, 50-yard backstroke; and 23rd, 50-yard freestyle

Stover (7): 11th, 50-yard backstroke; 15th, 100-yard freestyle; 20th, 25-yard freestyle; 22nd, 50-yard freestyle; 

Zelch (7): 16th, 100-yard freestyle; and 18th, 25-yard freestyle

Mitalski (8): first, 50 backstroke; second, 100 individual medley; third, 25-yard butterfly; and fifth, 50-yard freestyle

Dasher (8): third, 25-yard butterfly; ninth, 25-yard backstroke; tenth, 25-yard freestyle; and 15th, 100-yard individual medley

Moffa (8): 20th, 25-yard freestyle; and 30th, 50-yard freestyle 

Tuckerman (8): fourth, 25-yard breaststroke; 11th, 50-yard breaststroke; 18th, 100-yard IM; and 19th, 50-yard freestyle; 

Sciartelli (8): 22nd, 25-yard freestyle; 25th, 50-yard backstroke; and 34th, 50-yard freestyle

Clampffer (8): first, 25-yard breaststroke; second, 100-yard freestyle; second, 50-yard backstroke; and fourth, 50-yard freestyle
