Bastock, Morgan earn

prestigious honors

The Hudson girls tennis team recently gave out awards.

Alex Bastock was named the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division Player of the Year. She also was named the team’s Most Valuable Player.

Tim Morgan was named the Valley Division Coach of the Year.

Other players who received awards are the following:

Most improved: Grace Lu

Spirit awards: Lizzy Adams and Meredith Pacenta

All-NOC Valley Division (singles): Lu and Mir Lim

All-NOC Valley Division (doubles): Paige Mollison and Luisa Funk

Soccer program offered

in January

Hudson Soccer Association has launched a new city-wide program called Learn 2 Play.

Beginning in January, L2P will offer a weekly program of fun activities and game play for ages 4 through 9.

Michelle Kossler, a “C” licensed professional coach, has been named director of the program. Children will learn sound soccer mechanics through a curriculum of soccer activities.

The program will run simultaneously to the rec soccer session for seven weeks. Players will be broken into age-appropriate groups.

Preschoolers through age 9 are encouraged to register.

WRA lacrosse team to play in March

The Western Reserve Academy boys lacrosse team recently announced its March portion of the 2009 schedule:

March 13: Hudson at WRA (scrimmage)

March 15: WRA at Cleveland St. Ignatius (scrimmage)

March 17: Jackson at WRA (scrimmage)

March 18: Solon at WRA (scrimmage)

March 20: St. Paul (Md.) at WRA

March 22: Calvert Hall (Md.) at WRA

March 25: Avon Old Farms (Conn.) at WRA

March 26: Landon (Washington, D.C.) at WRA

March 28: WRA against Worthington Kilbourne in Baltimore, Md.

 

Outdoors shows

The first annual Tri-County Outdoors Show is scheduled to take place Feb. 13 and 14 at the Alliance National Guard Armory. Also scheduled is the 13th Earlybird Outdoors Sport Show March 13 and 14 at the Stow National Guard Armory. Alumni game scheduled in Kent

The Kent Roosevelt boys basketball team is scheduled to host its first-ever alumni game Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.

The fee for participation is $10 with each player receiving a T-shirt.
