Fiscal ResponsibilityAugust 23, 2009
The recent articles regarding the library cuts were somewhat disturbing in nature. Yes I know the budget has been reduced some 300k. But has anyone noticed the other stories in the paper? City Manager given a raise, new fire truck ordered, teachers given a raise, finger print scanners purchased for school lunch program, land purchased for a rainy day, I could go on and on. What a shame that we the tax payers for the town of Hudson have to go without by having the Library close early on Friday at 1:00pm rather than the normal time. Our town leadership should be spending and approving money like it is their own rather than continually approving additional spending. The current tax base will not last forever; we should be looking for ways to cut cost, furlough employees for part of the month if possible because I for one will not accept any additional taxes or financial burden for my family. We should not have to go without our normal services while we continue to spend money without checks and balances. Regards, Concerned Citizens of Hudson Comments
