Each year, the St Mary's Mens' Club awards the Reverend Joseph Costello Memorial scholarship to a deserving St Mary's parishioner who is a high school senior. Rev. Costello was the pastor of St Mary's for many years. The criteria for awarding the scholarship includes faith committment and involvement, community service, extracurricular activities, character, leadership and academic achievement.

Daniel's work as an altar server and as a volunteer at Malachi House Hospice showed just some of his committment to his faith and the community. His role as Head Senior Squad leader and a trombonist in the Hudson High School band demonstrated some of his leadership skills in extracurricular activities. His recognition as a National Merit Scholar showed the Men's Club scholarship committee the example of proven academic achievement. Daniel will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall pursuing study in biomedical engineering. Congratulations to Daniel Samide.
