(Akron, Ohio) On Saturday, April 18th 2009, men from Akron and the surrounding communities slipped on, buckled up and steped out in women's high heeled shoes to protest rape, sexual assault and gender violence during the 4th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, The International Men's March to Stop Rape Sexual Assault and Gender Violence. Mayor Don Plusquellic welcomed participants to the event. Dale Cantor, Chief of The Richfield Police Department, delivered a riveting keynote address at the pre-march rally about how men can impact a change and end sexual violence. Proceeds from this event benefited the Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties.
Hudson had a few teams represented, our own city prosecutor was there as well as many members from the Hudson High School football team. A group of walkers represting the Hudson Fire Fighters Associatiion led by Lt. Jay Zedak & Firefighter Shane Reid rasied over 250$ for this worthy cause.
