Register for summer school

Hudson High Summer School will offer online courses this year, as well as traditional courses. Also new this year, registration for each course will take place online only.

Registration for high school summer school courses starts March 5 at 4 p.m. The online registration form, summer school registration information, course descriptions and cost will be available on the building pages of the Hudson School District Web site at www.hudson.edu. To find the forms and information, click on the appropriate building Web page/information. The Summer School link is posted under the Forms heading.

Classes for high school courses will be in session June 14 through July 23 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Traditional in-classroom courses offered include Advanced Algebra, Algebra, Algebra Refresher, Geometry, English 9 and 10, Physical Education 10 (June 14 through July 2), Physical Education 10 (July 12 through July 30), and U.S. Government.

Online classes being offered are Health, U.S. Government, Algebra and Geometry. Online classes require orientation attendance.

A fully licensed teacher will monitor students' progress during the online sessions, and all quizzes and tests will be taken at Hudson High School.

Hudson, WRA win at TEAMS competition

Hudson High School and Western Reserve Academy won multiple awards at the annual Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) competition recently hosted by the College of Engineering at The University of Akron. Thirty-three teams representing 10 area high schools participated.

Hudson High School teams placed first and third in the Division 1 competition for 11th and 12th graders. A Hudson team placed second in the Division 1 competition for ninth and 10th graders.

WRA teams placed first and second in the Division 2 competition for ninth and 10th graders. WRA placed third in the Division 2 competition for 11th and 12th graders.

Door open at 6 for Tressel presentation

Ticket holders for the Community First 7 p.m. presentation on March 8 at Hudson High School auditorium by The Ohio State University Head Football Coach Jim Tressel must bring their tickets to be admitted into the presentation. No one will be admitted without a ticket to this sold-out event.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with first-come, first-serve seating; $100 reception ticket holders should bring their tickets to the high school media center at 5:30 p.m. for admittance. Reception ticket holders will have reserved seating in the presentation and do not need to save their seats. A raffle for a signed Jim Tressel football will be held that evening. Tickets are $1 or six for $5.

Eighth-grade Lock-in takes place May 14

The eighth-grade annual "Lock-in" will take place May 14 from 8 to 11:30 p.m. All eighth-graders attending Hudson Middle School are invited to attend this traditional end of the year party. The evening will include music, dancing, games, contest, prizes, food and beverages.

In order to make this party a success, nearly 175 volunteers will be needed. They may consider volunteering to work as a chaperone, help with set up, run games, serve food, etc. The planning committee is accepting donations of cash, gift cards, movie passes, merchandise, tickets to sporting events, electronics, etc. to be used as prizes.

Also needed are photos of any eighth-grader participating in school activities such as plays, concerts and sporting events. Photo submissions may be dropped off at the middle school main office where a "Lock-in" box is provided.
