Roegner announces State House candidacy
Hudson City Council member Kristina Daley Roegner on Feb. 15 kicked off her campaign to represent the 42nd State House District in Ohio. The Ohio House Republican Organization Committee made the announcement through an e-mail.
Roegner filed with the Summit County Board of Elections to seek the Republication nomination in the May primary.
State Rep. Mike Moran (D-Hudson) on Feb. 1 announced he will run for a second term in the Ohio House of Representatives in the 2010 election. However, only Roegner had filed as of Feb. 11. The Board of Elections offices were closed Feb. 15.
The deadline to file for the May 4 primary is Feb. 18 at 4 p.m.
While serving as a City Council member at large on Hudson City Council since 2005, Roegner served on the budget reduction ad-hoc committee. She is a member of the board of directors at Seton Catholic School.
Roegner owns a small Hudson-based business -- the Language Lodge, a foreign language immersion program for children. She was previously a field engineer and project manager for Westinghouse Power Generation Service Division and a management consultant for McKinsey and Co., a global consulting firm.
She earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts University and graduated cum laude in 1990. She also earned a master's degree in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Roegner said that government in Ohio has grown too big and spending is out of control.
"With unemployment in Summit County at 10.8 percent, I am determined to do what it takes to bring jobs back to Ohio and to our community," Roegner said. "Now is the time for responsible leadership; to encourage entrepreneurship, spur business growth, and move Ohio forward."
She has established a campaign Web site at www.kristinaforohio.com.
The 42nd district includes the cities of Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Munroe Falls, Silver Lake and Stow.
