John L. Ramsdell, 76, of Hudson died at home on Dec. 28, 2009, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Aug. 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret Ramsdell. After earning a degree in ceramic engineering from Alfred State University, he enjoyed a career in sales at North American Manufacturing Co., where he served as the vice president of engineering.
Retiring in 1995, he became an Akron City Hospital volunteer, a tutor for troubled youth at the Summit County Youth Development Center, an avid golfer and world traveler. He was a 30-year resident of Hudson.
Preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, in 2004, he is survived by daughters, Catherine (Jerry) Livadas of Stow and Susan Ramsdell of Akron; grandchild, Alexandra Livadas, aka "Squirt"; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friend and travel companion, Linda Riley.
