Everyone knows someone who has a collection. Whether it is coins, snow globes, dolls or other items, collections can make up an important part of one's life.
Collections are the theme at Stan Hywet's 2009 Deck the Hall holiday display. Twenty-five rooms in the manor house have been decorated with a variety of collections, ranging from gingerbread houses and quilts to Barnie dolls and Betty Boop.
Chrissy Kozey, education manager, said several volunteers have loaned their collections for the display. Kozey said her own collection on Betty Boop items can be seen in the Colonial Room.
"The three-story gingerbread tree is pretty breathtaking," Kozey said. "The Wizard of Oz room is incredible."
The grounds also have been decked out for the season in a colorful light display. In addition, there will be several music performances through the run of Deck the Hall, including:
* Dec. 6, St. Sebastian Catholic Church Choir;
* Dec. 10, TheBath Church, Bath, Ohio: Children's, Handbell and Adult Choirs;
* Dec. 13, Ars Nova Singers from Kent State University;
* Dec. 17, Stan Hywet Brass Choir;
* Dec. 20, Cuyahoga Falls First Methodist Teen Choir;
* Dec. 22, Copley-Fairlawn High School Chamber Singers;
* Dec. 27, Loudonville High School Chorus;
* Dec. 29, Todd Wilson, Organist (playing Stan Hywet's restored Aeolian organ); and
* Dec. 30, Susan Van Vorst, piano.
