Swimmers fare well at Busbey Invitational

Swimmers from the Hudson Explorers Aquatic Team participated in the Robert F. Busbey Invitational swim meet, which concluded June 18 at Cleveland State University.

Twelve HEAT swimmers competed in a variety of individual events with distances from 50 meters to 1,500 meters.

Jimmy Dagley set five team records during the event: 50 freestyle (27.06 seconds); 400 freestyle (4:39.44); 1,500 freestyle (18:21.4); 100 backstroke (1:07.09); and 200 backstroke (2:22.53).

Dagley had previously set a team record for the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:07.42 at the Canton City Schools Age Group and Open swim meet June 6.

The Busbey Invitational swim meet was open to qualified swimmers who had met time standards in prior competitions.

The following HEAT swimmers set 11 team long-course meter records at the meet:

Connie Gan: age 14, 100-meter butterfly, 1:10.72

Natalie Hill: 14, 200 butterfly, 2:46.97

Kelly Cartwright: 17, 100 breaststroke, 1:21.92; and the 200 breaststroke, 3:00.46

Hannah Hornis: 16, 200 butterfly, 2:37.77; and the 400 individual medley, 5:44.69

HEAT is a USA Swimming-affiliated year round competitive swimming program open to interested swimmers ages 5 and older.
