Hudson -- Jo-Ann Fabrics and Craft Stores is warning customers who purchased a particular brand of chair that it could collapse if the legs aren't properly locked into place.

Jo-Ann Stores Inc. is asking customers who purchased a SmartSpace Papasan Chair to e-mail the store at guest.services@joann.com to receive a warning label tag, instructing consumers to engage the legs in the locked position before use, said Jo-Ann Public Relations Director Lisa Greb.

Jo-Ann has received five reports of chairs collapsing when the legs were not locked, Greb said. No injuries have been reported.

Jo-Ann Stores is not recalling any of the 6,000 SmartSpace Papasan Chairs made in China, Greb said. The chairs were sold without a warning label instructing consumers to lock the chair's legs before sitting. Chairs not sold have had a label added.

"The chair is safe if the legs are locked in place," Greb said.

The chairs were sold between June and September for $25 at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores.

The silver metal frame chair has a circular fabric seat that sits on a 10-inch tall base. The fabric seat used with the Papasan chairs were sold in purple, pacific, lime yellow and gray. A hangtag on the chair reads "Smartspace Papasan Chair -- 1 piece."
