Several gymnasts who train at The Talent Tree in Hudson attended the Amateur Athletic Union National Gymnastics Competition, which concluded July 3 in Orlando.
Most of the girls competed on the national level for the first time. Gina Durkos of Stow placed sixth on the vault and seventh all-around in the optional level.
Karly Slone of Silver Lake placed eighth in the all-around competition and Molly Simmons of Cuyahoga Falls placed ninth all-around. Slone and Simmons are Level 5 gymnasts.
Hudson residents Yesamine DeLeon-Mettee, Reilley Jones and Elyssa Ternay also competed.
Mettee placed fourth on the bars with a score of 9.3 points. She also placed fifth on the balance beam (9.6), seventh on the floor exercise and seventh in the all-around competition.
Jones, competing on the optional level, placed fifth on the vault, bars, floor and all-around. She also placed sixth on the balance beam.
Ternay finished fourth on the vault, sixth on the floor and 10th all-around. Kaylie Kaiser of Peninsula finished first on the bars, third on the beam and floor and fifth all-around.
More than 1,500 gymnasts from all over the United States competed at the event at Disney World of Sports.
The girls are preparing for the AAU Nationals in February in Columbus. They are coached by Shar Traczyk.
