Meredith fires gem against rival Bears

As a freshman, Mindy Meredith's golden arm led the Hudson softball team to its first-ever Division I state championship game.

This year, Meredith and the Lady Explorers are experiencing some growing pains.

But lately, the standout left-hander and Hudson have been growing up really fast.

The visiting Lady Explorers improved to 9-7 and 3-1 in the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division with a 6-0 victory over North Royalton April 30.

Meredith pitched a no-hitter and struck out 13 batters in seven innings of work. She also had two singles and drove in a run at the plate. The Lady Explorers had nine hits and no errors.

Hannah Price had two hits, including a double, and a run batted in, and Alyssa Brown had two singles and two RBIs. Grace Doman added a double.

Host Hudson posted a 4-2 win over Avon Lake. Meredith got the win on the mound and finished with a career-high 19 strikeouts.

Lindsey Bartos led the offense with a triple and two RBIs.

The host Lady Explorers lost a 3-1 decision to North Royalton April 28.

Meredith got the win on the mound and finished with 14 strikeouts.The Bears had four hits and two errors and Hudson had six hits and one error.

Brown had two hits, including a double, and Doman had two singles and an RBI.

The Lady Explorers are scheduled to visit NOC foe Cuyahoga Falls May 5 before returning home to play Falls May 7. Both contests are set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
