Church Women plan annual spring lunch

The annual meeting and spring luncheon of the Western Reserve Deanery, Episcopal Church Women, Diocese of Ohio will be at Christ Church of Hudson April 24.

The Western Reserve Deanery includes Christ Church in Kent, St. Timothy's Church in Macedonia, St. Paul's Church in Medina, and Grace Church in Ravenna along with Christ Church in Hudson.

Registration and fellowship will begin at 10 a.m. April 24 with election of officers, celebration of Holy Eucharist and installation of officers at 10:45 a.m.

The Rev. Brian Suntken will celebrate the Eucharist. A business meeting will precede the luncheon, served by the Episcopal Church Women of Hudson at 12:30 p.m.

The program after lunch will be given by Hilary Nerby who has returned from a mission trip to Morocco.

Nerby, a Macedonia resident, also is the secretary for the Western Reserve Deanery.

The business session under president Marsha Snyder of Ravenna will highlight plans for the 2008 annual meeting of the Episcopal Church Women, Diocese of Ohio, May 12 through 14 at the Westlake Holiday Inn and the Church of the Ascension in Lakewood.

The 131 annual meeting will welcome keynote speaker Kay Meyer, president of the board, National Episcopal Church Women.

United Methodist
hosts annual sale

Hudson United Methodist Church, 2600 Hudson-Aurora Road, will host its 20th annual attic sale May 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be a half price and bag sale after 1.

Items can be donated to the church from April 28 through May 1.

at student ministries

Hope Student Ministries is hosting a film festival at their Hope Café on May 2 from 8 to 11 p.m.

There will be homemade movies shown and munchies and refreshments served. This event is open to both middle and high school students.

Hope Café is located within Hope Community Church, 3033 Middleton Road in Hudson.

Churches gather for World Day of Prayer

In recognition of the National Day of Prayer, Hudson's churches, through the ministerial association, are sponsoring a prayer breakfast May 1 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Hudson Community Chapel, at the intersection of Terex Road and Route 303.

Local church members and Hudson residents are encouraged to come together at this event to pray.

A breakfast buffet will be served, followed by a program of music, guest speakers from the community and prayer led by pastors from Hudson churches.

The cost is $10 per person. Tickets may be purchased at the Hudson Community Chapel church office or on its Web site,

Boychoir to perform at First Congregational

The Ohio Boychoir, under the musical direction of Dr. David Kienzle, will perform "Sing the Earth Green," an environmentally-themed concert, at First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora St., May 4 at 4 p.m.

The program will present both sacred and secular choral music which will explore environmental themes and mankind's stewardship over the Earth.

The concert will include the debut of Cleveland composer Anne C. Wilson's new choral work "We Belong to the Earth," commissioned for the Ohio Boychoir for this concert series.

No admission will be charged. A free-will offering will be received.

Church plans groundbreaking

On May 4, Rejoice Lutheran Church will have a groundbreaking ceremony in anticipation of building a new church in Hudson.

The ceremony will take place on church property at 7855 Stow Road, just north of Middleton Road.

It will start at approximately noon.

After the church's 10:30 a.m. worship service, church members will proceed to the site.

The church worships at Ellsworth Hill Elementary School at the corner of Stow and Middleton Roads, adjacent to the property.

St. Mary Church plans Charismatic Mass

St. Mary Church in Hudson, 340 N. Main St., will host a Charismatic Mass April 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Praise and worship will begin at 7 p.m.

Kids to give concert

The kids' choir at Hudson Community Chapel presents a mini concert and musical titled "Miracle on Main Street" April 27 at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary.

A reception will follow immediately with a free photo booth.

Celeste Clydesdale and David T. Clydesdale wrote the children's Christmas musical, "Miracle on Main Street, The Little Pageant That Wouldn't Give Up."

The script contains a blend of new songs with traditional carols chronicling the dilemma of a group of children who want to celebrate Christmas in public, but face opposition from the politically correct local townsfolk.

Congregational church plans Bible school

First Congregational Church of Hudson will host a Vacation Bible School program June 23 to 27 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The theme will be "Holy Moses." All children 3-years-old to those in fifth grade are welcome to attend.

The Toddler 3s class will meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the Vacation Bible School week.
