Boston Heights -- Voters Nov. 8 will have two candidates to choose from for mayor, who is elected for four years and handles the administrative duties of the village. The six members of Council handle legislative matters.

Two candidates filed for mayor -- incumbent Bill Goncy and Village Council member Janet Miller.

Goncy, 63, of Olde Eight Road, was elected mayor in 2008 and served on the Village Council from 1986 to 2007. He is a retired carpenter and operates an evergreen nursery on Olde Eight Road with his wife, Mary Ann. They have four grown children.

"As mayor, I embrace the opportunity and responsibility to help my fellow residents maintain the quality of life in our village in a fiscally responsible manner," Goncy said. "Limited business growth under vigilant guidance is essential to continue providing services to residents at an affordable level."

Miller, 54, of Ian Wood Circle, is a homemaker and has been on Council for eight years. She is a member of Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge 68, League of Women Voters and Fairview Cemetery Association. Her husband, Marc, have six grown children.

"Over the last eight years on Council I have listened, researched, questioned, debated and sought reasonable solutions," Miller said. "Communication builds trust. I will restore communication between the mayor's office and the Council, administration, departments and employees."
