Jazz trio to play at Christ Church Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St., will host a Jazz Cabaret Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. as the Greg Banaszak Trio returns to Hudson. The trio will perform with special guest Chris Anderson on trombone. Chef Larkin Rogers will prepare heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Banaszak has performed with orchestras and at concert halls throughout the world. He has recently been appointed to the National Academy of Arts and Sciences as a voting member for the annual Grammy Awards ceremony. He is on the faculty of the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory, the Cleveland Institute of Music/Case Western Reserve University, and Kent State University. Program looks at pilgrimage to Egypt The Rev. Kay Rackley, associate rector at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St. in Hudson, will present "An Egyptian Pilgrimage" on Sept. 15, 22 and 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. Rackley will share the experiences of her pilgrimage to Egypt. She spent three weeks in Egypt and Jordan with a group that visited the sacred sites of ancient Egypt. She will share her understanding of Egypt's culture and belief systems, her experiences at the sacred sites, and the wisdom that this ancient culture offers today. The sessions are free and open to the public. Gloria Dei hosts Rejoicing Spirits The next Rejoicing Spirits service is on Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2113 Ravenna St. in Hudson. People of all faiths are welcome to join the inclusive Christian worship adapted to engage individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Women invited on weekend retreat Rejoice Lutheran Church is accepting registrations for "Hidden Heroes of the Gospel" -- a relaxing weekend of uplifting music, faith-inspired discussion and Christian fellowship for women. Participants will learn about research that suggests women are the real heroes of the Gospels when the dramatic art of the gospels is understood. The retreat will be Oct. 8, 9 and 10 at Lake Chautauqua Lutheran Retreat Center in Bemus Point, N.Y., about a two-hour drive from Hudson. The retreat leader is the Rev. Barbara Holzhauser. Participants will pray, worship, sing and laugh together as they study God's Word in a casual and relaxed setting. Chapel welcomes newcomers The women of Hudson Community Chapel will help new residents get to know the community at a newcomers brunch Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m. at the church, 750 W. Streetsboro St. The brunch, which will be in the conference room, is followed up by a weekly class which is designed for women who are looking for fellowship, friendship and a way to get plugged in to their new area. The study group will work through the book "After the Boxes Are Unpacked-Moving On After Moving In" by Susan Miller. Childcare will be provided for the informational brunch and during the weekly study. Books are available through the class.
