Parents asked to
take online survey

Hudson City School District Parent Mentor Diane Rudzitis is conducting an online survey through Oct. 10 for families of children with special needs to help plan for the 2010-11 school year.

The goal is to identify the areas of interest and need for parents of children with special needs. The links to the survey are on the parent mentor web page.

Access it at www.hudson.edu by clicking on "community/parent mentorship" or "information/pupil personnel services."

PTA starts
membership drive

The Hudson Parent Teacher Association has kicked off its 2010-11 PTA Membership Drive.

PTA members receive one free school directory and have unlimited access to online, expert parenting resources. Family memberships are $15, and additional directories are available for $5 each. Staff memberships are $10 without a directory. PTA representatives will be at all Hudson City Schools' open houses to provide information and register members. Registration forms are also available at www.
Hudson-PTA.org.

The Hudson PTA membership drive is the sole fundraiser for the PTA. The proceeds support programs for parents and students. PTA programs are free, open to all, and include a Facebook Technology Program; State of the Schools Night; the national PTA Reflections Arts Contest; anti-bullying presentations; and "Living the Good Life" Health Fair.

Seton teachers tour
Gettysburg, Saint's home

Seton Catholic School teachers visited Gettysburg, Pa., and Emmitsburg, Md., Aug. 10 and 11 as an alternative to the traditional professional meetings.

They toured Civil War battlefields and the town of Gettysburg on Aug. 10.

On Aug. 11, they toured the home of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, where she lived from 1809 until her death in 1821. Her remains are entombed in the Basilica that bears her name in Emmitsburg.

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is the first American born Saint, a founder of Catholic education in the U.S., and patroness and guardian of Seton Catholic School of Hudson. The Seton staff learned about her life, discovered the depths of her faith, walked in her footsteps, and celebrated Mass in the Basilica.

The excursion was funded through private donations.

"The dedication of my staff to teaching and learning was truly evidenced as they immersed themselves in this summer pilgrimage and strengthened professional and personal relationships," said Principal Harry Selner. "This trip enhanced our commitment to always live out the Seton mission."
