Hudson girls move to 4-1 The Hudson junior varsity girls golf team earned a split with Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division rivals Medina and Strongsville Aug. 25 at Medina Country Club. Strongsville beat both teams with a 180 and the Lady Explorers scored a 216. Medina finished with a 229. Nicole Goodson led Hudson with a 52 and Anisha Basu added a 54. Also contributing were Sarah Buckley and Katie Hansen, who each shot a 55. The Lady Explorers finished third with a 408 at the nine-team Brunswick JV Invitational Aug. 29. Strongsville won with a 363 and Medina Highland placed second (364). Goodson led the way with a 97 and Basu added a 98. Hansen and Buckley scored a 106 and 107, respectively, for Hudson. On Aug. 19, the visiting Lady Explorers earned a 210-230 win over NOC foe Cuyahoga Falls Aug. 19 at Brookledge Golf Club. Goodson and Buckley each shot a 50 to share medalist honors. Basu added a 53 and Hansen scored a 57. Hudson scored a 210-245 win over Copley Aug. 16 on the road. Basu and Hansen each shot a 52 to share medalist honors. Goodson and Buckley each scored a 53. The host Lady Explorers earned a 192-234 win over Copley Aug. 11 at Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club. Buckley and Hansen each scored a 46 to share medalist honors and Goodson shot a 49. Basu added a 51.
WRA beats Field The host Western Reserve Academy boys golf team improved to 1-1 on the season with a 175-188 victory over Mogadore Field Aug. 26 at the Country Club of Hudson. Senior co-captains Aaron Segal and Kevin Coquillette and junior Taylor Norton each scored a 44 to lead the Pioneers. Reserve was scheduled to visit Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Aug. 31. Results were not available at press time. WRA is set to entertain Hartville Lake Center Christian Sept. 7 at 4 p.m.
CVCA places seventh The Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy boys golf team finished seventh with a score of 318 at the 18-team Youngstown Cardinal Mooney Cardinal Classic Golf Tournament Aug. 28 at Mill Creek Park Golf Course in Canfield. Akron Archbishop Hoban won the competition with a 306 and Stow-Munroe Falls (307) and Canfield (316) finished second and third, respectively. Hudson resident William Vanbuskirk shot a 92 for CVCA.
Outing scheduled A mix scramble is scheduled to take place Sept. 24 at Oak Knolls Golf Course in Kent. Registration is set for 9 a.m. with the mixed the mixed scramble to follow at 10 a.m. The mixed scramble benefits the Kelly Reeves Memorial Foundation.
