The Hudson Farmers Market will receive 50 percent of the sales generated by supporters that eat at the Hudson Chipotle Mexican Grill Aug. 28 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. In order for the Hudson Farmers Market to get credit for transactions, customers supporting the market must present the fundraising event flyer to the Chipotle cashier at the time of purchase. Supporters can pick up a flyer Aug. 28 at the flagpole tent at the Hudson Farmers Market or go to www.hudsonfarmersmarket.org and print one out. One flyer can be used for a family or small group of friends arriving together, as long as they are paying as one transaction. For more information, e-mail Hudson Farmers Market Manager J Hudson at jhudson@
The Market runs every Saturday through Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. More than 35 local vendors gather on the Hudson Village Green. Items featured at this year's market include fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, honey, baked goods, organic and free-range meats, plants, preserves, flowers and other products made or grown locally. The Hudson Farmers Market is a collaborative effort between Leadership Hudson, Hudson Clocktower Rotary, community leaders and civic-minded residents. On Sept. 4, one of Food & Wine's Best New Chef's of 2010, Jonathan Sawyer from The Greenhouse Tavern, will perform a cooking demonstration. Sawyer believes that the proximity of the farm and soil to a restaurant links directly to the quality of its food. That belief led Sawyer to open The Greenhouse Tavern. The restaurant, located in Cleveland, evokes the farm to plant movement. The Greenhouse Tavern demonstrates green principles of organic and environmentally friendly ingredients, while using recyclables and highly developed methods of composting to source alternate energy, and focus more on the conservation practices. Hudson Farmers Market vendors set up along the sidewalks on the Green and on East Main Street in a triangular shape. The best place for shoppers to park is in the parking deck in First & Main. The market offers a Veggie Valet service where volunteers will load bags into cars for shoppers. For more information, visit www.hudsonfarmersmarket.org or call J Hudson at 330-858-2376. Comments
