Colonial Dames attend
Members of Kent Ezekial Richardson Chapter National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century attended the Ohio Society fiftieth annual workshop of the NSCD
The members attending the workshop were: Dianne Hall Allison, state corresponding secretary and chapter president; Diana Allison, state recording secretary and chapter registrar, Rose McIntyre, chapter vice president; Elaine McIntyre, chaplain and Libby Erwin, treasurer. Glenn Newman portrayed John Adams. Newman spoke about the Liberty Ship, a mobile classroom which will travel the country to parades, schools, fairs and other events, accompanied by a group of characters representing our founders. Ann Seidel also presented a musical review. Selections included "Yankee Doodle," "Star Spangled Banner," "My Country Tis of Thee," "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "Taps," "America the Beautiful," "Good Morning To You," and "God Bless America." The NSCDSVIIC is a patriotic, genealogical and heraldry society founded in 1915. It is a national society which supports a library and museum home in Washington, D. C., that specializes in 17th century American data. This national historical group specializes in the preservation of the records and historic sites of our country. The Hudson Newcomers Club will host its annual "Get Acquainted Coffee" on Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hudson Library and Historical Society's large meeting room. The event is designed to welcome new residents to the area and help them discover ways to get involved in the community. A variety of local clubs and organizations will share information about their groups. Coffee and refreshments will be served. The Newcomers Club will have tables set up with information on memberships and dues (returning members can renew dues), special interest groups, its fashion show and more. Baby-sitting will be available for children 4 years and younger in the library's children story room.

Newcomers host social The Hudson Newcomers Club will host its annual meeting and Get Acquainted Social on Sept. 8 at the Old Whedon Grille, 200 N. Main St., at 7 p.m. Guests will learn about the club while enjoying a ladies' night out. Eagle Scouts invited to celebrate 100 years Past and present Eagle Scouts and Scout Masters from Hudson Boy Scout Troop 321 are invited to help celebrate 100 years of Scouting on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. at the newly renovated dining hall at Camp Manatoc. The event will include a Troop 321 Eagle Scout plaque presentation to honor all Eagle Scouts from throughout the troop's 90-plus-year history. Learn about Indian Princesses, Guides Indian Princesses and Indian Guides, unique father/daughter and father/son experiences, invites all dads, sons and daughters to get more information about the organization at a meeting at Barlow Community Center on Sept. 15 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Current members will be there to talk about the organization and answer any questions. Indian Guides was founded in the 1920s with the purpose of fostering understanding and companionship between fathers and sons. It was later expanded in the 1950s to include fathers and daughters in the Indian Princesses Program. Fathers spend quality time with their sons or daughters while participating in various activities throughout the school year. The goal of these programs is to build strong, healthy parent/child relationships that will last a lifetime. Donate blood Aug. 25 The Hudson League for Service will host a blood drive Aug. 25 at Barlow Community Center. Drop-in donors are welcome anytime between 1 and 7 p.m. Appointments can be made in advance by calling 1-800-GIVE-LIFE, or visit redcrossblood.org for more information. Bring a Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive identification when donating. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Barlow Community Center will also host blood drives Sept. 29, Oct. 27, Nov. 24 and Dec. 22. Business Professionals meets Thursdays Hudson Business Professionals meets every Thursday at Redeemer Church 190, W. Streetsboro St. in Hudson. For more information, call Tim Klug at 330-689-1776.
