Hudson schools host open houses

Hudson Schools will host open houses prior to the start of school on Aug. 25.

Open houses for Evamere kindergarten and first-grade students, and McDowell third-graders will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 23.

An open house for Hudson Middle School sixth-graders will be Aug. 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Open houses for Ellsworth Hill second-graders and East Woods fourth- and fifth-graders will be Aug. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m.

An open house for Ellsworth preschool students will be Aug. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Hudson High School will host an open house Sept. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m.

An open house for middle school seventh-graders will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15.

An open house for middle school eighth-graders will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16.

Aug. 25: Baked chicken rings, breadstick, veggies and dip, fresh fruit salad (alternative: chef salad with turkey and cheese)

Aug. 26: Bosco cheese pizza sticks, tossed salad, fresh apple slices (alt: peanut butter and jelly Uncrustables)

Aug. 27: Whole grain French toast sticks, Canadian bacon, yogurt and fruit cups (alt: baked chicken bites)

East Woods

Aug. 25: Baked chicken rings (alt: cheeseburger on wheat)

Aug. 26: Macaroni and cheese with steamed broccoli (alt: soft tacos)

Aug. 27: Deluxe burgers with choice of toppings (alt: chicken parmesan sandwich)

Musicians to canvass Hudson Aug. 28

The annual Hudson High School Music Association Tag Day will be Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Hudson High School band, choir and orchestra students will canvass Hudson neighborhoods asking for donations to support the high school music programs. The proceeds are used for uniforms, instruments, repairs, clinics and supplies.

Every person who donates to the Hudson High School Music Association will receive a "tag" with a calendar of musical events for the school year.For further information contact Loree Allen at 330-342-0527.

Music students will also distribute Bruegger's Bagels fliers for use Sept. 3 to 6 and Sept. 10 to 12. On these two weekends, the Hudson High School Music Association will receive 15 percent of the proceeds from sales accompanied by a Bruegger's Bagels flier.

Rocket Boosters
set to blast off

The Hudson Explorer Rocket Boosters is a new organization in the Hudson City Schools that supports activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The group plans to meet the second week in September to elect a board and plan the year, which will include the STEM Project Fair and the Middle and High School FIRST Robot Competition teams. The Rocket Boosters group is seeking support from the local companies, foundations and professional organizations in the following ways. They may provide financial support, mentor support, donations of old laptops and awards for the STEM Project Fair, or help develop an alternative STEM based activity.

Hudson PTO selling Spirit Wear

Hudson Spirit Wear will be available for purchase from the Hudson Parent Teacher Organization at all Hudson school open houses.

The annual Spirit Wear Sale has redesigned itself with all new styles. Completely new this year is a ladies fit T-shirt. Additional styles include a pink girls T, a navy vintage T, a pink zip hoodie, a blue hoodie, cinch bags and knit beanies. Spirit Wear order forms are also available at www.HudsonPTO.org. The completed order form can be sent to Hudson PTO, PO Box 642, Hudson, OH or any Hudson City school building. All orders must be placed by Sept. 17 with delivery by Oct. 22.

All proceeds from Spirit Wear sales benefit Hudson PTO sponsored building events and district-wide projects.

The Hudson PTO is a non-profit group that has been active since 1965. The mission of the PTO is to act as a community link between the parents, the school, and the community; to financially supplement the education of Hudson school children; to actively support the Hudson City Schools; and to provide programs to instill a fun and positive atmosphere within the home, school, and community.
