Orpah C. Schoeler, 92, of Hudson died on July 14, 2010. A former Ellet resident for 26 years, she lived at Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson for more than 20 years until she died. She attended Western College for Women (now Miami University in Oxford) and was a 1941 graduate of Oberlin College where she majored in math and minored in organ. She assisted the war effort during World War II as a draftsperson for Goodyear, concentrating on blimps, life rafts and barrage balloons. After raising a son, she returned to work in 1970 at Babcock & Wilcox, where she retired in 1987 as the company's senior programmer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, William Albert Schoeler, in 1976, and her parents, the Rev. Raymond George and Christena Maria (Christensen) Clark. She is survived by her son, Richard Clark; daughter-in-law, Mary Laura (Keller) Schoeler; and two grandchildren, Christina Ann and William Bennett Schoeler, all of Peninsula. Donations can be made in her name to the Laurel Lake Foundation, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, Hudson 44236, to benefit the caregivers of that organization. Redmon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Comments
