Hudson -- The planning commission unanimously approved additional parking at Lexi-Comp, a growing a medical publishing company on Terex Road.

Lexi-Comp, in Hudson since 1990, received approval to increase its existing parking lot by 77 spaces, bringing the total number to 186.

"There has been significant growth of this company and its employment," City Planner Mark Richardson told the commission Aug. 9.

The size of the existing building is 30,460 square feet. The city's minimum parking requirement for office use for its size is between 77 to 122 spots which exceeds the city's parking requirements, according to Richardson.

"We now have 115 spots and 140 employees. We expect the number of employees to grow to between 160 and 170 within the next 12 months," Lexi-Comp's Chief Financial Officer Mike Metz said.

Plans submitted to the planning commission include the installation of five new parking lot light poles.

All meet Land Development Code requirements, according to planning department staff reports.
