St. Mary offers Christian initiation program

St. Mary Church in Hudson will begin its 2010-11 Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program Aug. 31.

This is a communal process with four key stages:

* Inquiry, when those interested can learn more about the Catholic faith and ask questions;

* Catechumenate -- for those who choose to remain in the RCIA process, the learning continues with a stronger focus on education and developing a deeper understanding about what it means to be Catholic;

* Purification and Enlightenment -- the final steps leading up to receiving the sacraments; and

* Mystagogy. During this post-initiation stage, participants explore ways to live this new life and join a new Christian community more fully.

There is also a Rite of Christian Initiation of Children which runs concurrently with the adult session.

Classes at St. Mary Church, 340 N. Main St., will begin Aug. 31 from 7 to 9:15 p.m.

Call Donna Rakotci at 330-715-1262 or e-mail her at drakotci@roadrunner.com for more information.
