Hudson -- Police say a 50-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man stole $1,000 from a 63-year-old Hudson man in May by misrepresenting himself as an employee of a construction firm and accepting and cashing a check for construction work. The Cuyahoga Falls man later returned to the Hudson man's place of work and cashed three bad checks totalling $280 between May 28 and June 7, according to police. Police located the suspect in Summit County jail, where he was being held on charges from a separate case in Stow, according to a police spokesperson. Hudson police on July 23 charged the Cuyahoga Falls man with theft and three counts of passing bad, all fifth-degree felonies. The charges were bound over to a Summit County grand jury on July 26. The Cuyahoga Falls man on July 29 was being held in Summit County jail on a $50,000 bond, which the court set in the Stow case. Operating a vehicle
July 27. Twinsburg man arrested: A 22-year-old Twinsburg man was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol content of .232 and failing to obey lane markings on Hudson Drive at Terex Road at 2:55 a.m. The legal blood alcohol content limit in Ohio is .08. According to police reports, the man failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Hudson Police Department. His vehicle was towed. He was later released on a personal recognizance bond. July 24. 17-year-old arrested: A 17-year-old Hudson male was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol content of .224, possession of drug paraphernalia (a glass pipe) and failing to obey lane markings on Barlow Road at 4:13 a.m. The juvenile was cited and released to his parents. His case was subsequently turned over to the Summit County Juvenile Court for prosecution. Animals at large July 22. Two dogs on the loose: A Hudson Park Drive resident said she was attacked by two dogs as she walked her dog on Herrick Park Lane. No injuries were reported, but the dogs' owner was given a verbal warning about allowing her dogs to run at large. No charges were filed, according to a police spokesperson. Theft July 22. Window smashed, GPS stolen: An employee of a Georgetown Road business called police after she saw a young male break the window of a co-worker's vehicle and steal a global positioning system at 4:22 p.m. Estimated loss for the window and GPS was $350. An investigation is pending. July 22. Mail taken: A Ravenna Street resident said three outgoing letters were taken from the mailbox and fireworks were set off in the mailbox sometime during the night of July 13. No damage estimate was provided for the mailbox. Trespass July 19. Resident reports trespasser: A Simone Lane resident said a young male repeatedly trespassed on her property from July 10 to 19. Trespassing charges were filed against a 23-year-old Hudson resident. Criminal damaging July 23. Vehicle window broken: An employee of a Milford Lane business said someone broke her vehicle window on the passenger side while it was parked in the parking lot the previous day between 9 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. According to the report, nothing was missing from the vehicle. No damage estimate was available. No foreign object was discovered. Officer injured July 21. Officer injured on patrol: A Hudson Police officer was transported to a local hospital by EMS after the officer reportedly twisted an ankle while performing a vacation check at a Valerie Lane residence at 7:02 a.m. Editor's note: Police News is a sampling of incidents responded to by local law enforcement agencies or the Hudson Police Department.
