July 31 at the Hudson Farmers Market on the Clocktower Green will be Kids Day. There will be balloons, face painting and a salsa making demonstration from Chipotle Mexican Grill.

More than 30 local vendors will set up booths every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Clocktower Green until Oct. 2 for the Hudson Farmers Market. Organizers estimate the event has drawn around 500 people to the Green each Saturday.

The emphasis is on green, said J Hudson, manager of the Farmers Market. Shoppers will be encouraged to ride bicycles to the market.

Items featured at this year's market include fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, honey, baked goods, organic and free-range meats, plants, preserves, flowers, and other products made or grown locally, Hudson said.

The market has added some new vendors this season.

"We've expanded the vendors this year to have more options," Hudson said.

The vendors will set up along the sidewalks on the Green and on East Main Street in a triangular shape.

Throughout the season, local chefs will demonstrate cooking with fresh produce during the market sales.

The Farmers Market was created by the 2006-07 class of Leadership Hudson, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hudson Clocktower.

The Farmers Market is non-profit and relies on volunteers.

The best place for shoppers to park is in the parking deck in First & Main, Hudson said.

The market offers a Veggie Valet service where volunteers will load bags into cars for shoppers.
