by Laura Freeman Reporter Hudson -- City Council on July 21 unanimously approved the purchase of three new police cruisers to replace three old ones. The police department will replace three 2007 Ford Crown Victoria police interceptors, each with more than 100,000 miles, with three 2010 models from Statewide Ford in Van Wert for $22,243 per vehicle. The price includes delivery, title and the custom features in the police package. The city had budgeted $66,000 for the purchase in the fleet fund, Robbins said. Delivery is expected in two to four months, according to Police Chief David Robbins. The old vehicles will be become part of the fleet department or auctioned if they are too costly to maintain. The police department maintains 10 marked black and white police cars, which are rotated between shifts to balance mileage on the cars, Robbins said.
