Hudson -- A 17-year-old Hudson male was arrested and charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of criminal tools, identity fraud, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage use of alcohol and/or drugs on July 10. He was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Court Center in Akron and his parents were notified. The teen was arrested after an off-duty Hudson police officer spotted suspicious activity in a parking lot behind a gas station on South Main Street, according to a police spokesperson. Police found the 17-year-old in possession of 38 grams of suspected marijuana, a digital scale, plastic baggies, a glass smoking pipe and rolling papers. Carrying concealed weapon July 8. Man carrying knife: An 18-year-old Hudson man was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed knife, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia (a glass smoking bowl) and failure to display two vehicle license plates after police stopped him on Boston Mills Road shortly after 10 p.m. His vehicle was towed and he was taken to the Hudson Police Department. He was later released on a personal recognizance bond. Theft July 8. Rugs stolen: The Cincinnati owner of a home for sale on Lost Woods Lane reported the theft of several floor rugs from the residence sometime between March 10 and July 5. According to the police report, the estimated loss of the four rugs was $3,670. There was no sign of forced entry. July 7. Landscape lights removed: A Sunset Drive resident said someone stole eight brass landscape lights from her yard. Loss was estimated at $100. July 6. Electric saw taken: An employee of a construction firm working at a site on Darrow Road reported an $800 saw was taken from the job site. He said the saw was stolen during a seven-minute time span beginning at 2:23 p.m. Identity theft July 6. Credit card account number used: An Hudson woman said someone used her credit card numbers to make an unauthorized purchase of $71.19 at the Gap on June 11. July 12. Credit card fraud: A Marblehead Drive resident said someone used her credit card to make $29.37 in unauthorized purchases. Curfew violation July 8. Youth out after curfew: Police attempted to stop a 16-year-old male bike rider just before 2 a.m. on Stow Road. According to the police report, the youth left the road and rode into the woods to evade capture. The officer pursued and found the bike but not the youth. Later, at 5:50 a.m., an officer on patrol saw the youth walking on Stow Road. He was taken to his home and released to his father. The youth was cited for a curfew violation and obstruction of official business. He was referred to the juvenile division. The bike was returned to the youth's parents. Cruelty to animals July 7. Animal left in hot car: A 21-year-old woman was warned by police of cruelty to animals laws after she left her pet ferret in a car without water during a severely heated day. The woman provided water to the animal, turned on the air conditioning and left the Corporate Drive parking lot. No charges were filed. Sexual imposition July 7. Trooper calls police: An Ohio State Trooper called Hudson police after a commercial bus driver stopped his east-bound bus on I-480 after a 24-year-old female passenger from Philadelphia claimed a 39-year-old male passenger from Youngstown inappropriately touched her. The man denied it. No charges were filed, but the man was escorted off the bus and taken by the State Highway Patrol to his vehicle parked in Cleveland, according to a police spokesperson. Macedonia man indicted June 22. Police say man stole from mother. A 23-year-old Macedonia man was indicted by a Summit County Common Pleas Court grand jury for burglary, a second-degree felony, and grand theft, a fourth-degree felony, in connection with Meadowood Lane case May 31. Police charge the man with taking $71,775 in jewelry from his mother's home on May 31. His attorney has filed a motion for a continuance until July 22. Hudson man
June 7. Man pleads guilty: A 22-year-old Hudson man entered a plea of guilty to two counts of drug possession stemming from an arrest by the Hudson Police Jan. 3 on Dorchester Drive. The defendant was eligible for a drug intervention program which offers rehabilitation in lieu of conviction for first offenders, according to court records. Judge Paul Gallagher allowed the man to participate in an appropriate drug treatment facility or program, according to court records. However, if he fails to participate he could be sentenced to prison, with additional time for violating the terms of his intervention. Munroe Falls woman
May 20. Woman changes plea: A Munroe Falls woman indicted for grand theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a fifth-degree felony, and tampering with records has changed her not guilty plea to guilty and received probation instead of prison. The woman, 28, was arrested in November 2009 after she rented a car at a Hudson agency and took the vehicle out of state after using a bad credit card. She was ordered to pay the rental agency $1,284.96 and given a suspended sentence of 12 months, with two years probation.
