The Ohio Restaurant Association recently recognized State Rep. Mike Moran (D-Hudson) as a recipient of its 2010 Public Official of the Year. Moran is the sponsor of House Bill 230, currently in Conference Committee of the Ohio General Assembly, which would reform the rule making process in Ohio. The sponsor of companion legislation (Senate Bill 3) in the Ohio Senate, State Senator Keith Faber (R-Celina), was also recognized with the award. The ORA recognized Moran for his efforts to foster a more favorable business climate by "minimizing counterproductive and costly government regulations through meaningful reforms to Ohio's regulatory system." "We know that rules and regulations can impact our members just as much as a new law," said Geoff Hetrick, ORA president and CEO. "Mike has worked diligently to reduce the regulatory burden on small business." Moran represents Ohio's 42nd District, which includes Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Hudson, Munroe Falls and Silver Lake.
