Swim squad wins 

third straight title

The Cuyahoga Falls Riverfront YMCA Tigersharks won their third consecutive YMCA Northeast Ohio League Championship March 6, beating 23 area YMCA swim teams.        

Tigersharks swimmers broke six meet records on their way to winning the League Championship.

Ross Palazzo, 13, of Hudson, swam a record-breaking time in the 100 breaststroke (1 minute, 6.28 seconds). He also won the 200 individual medley (2:15.14).

In the 10-and-younger age group, Gaby Palazzo, 10, of Hudson, finished first in the 100 Individual Medley (1:16.07).

Macy Trattner, 11, of Hudson, won the 50 freestyle (26.59) for the 11- and 12-year-old age group.

The Tigersharks plan to send 43 swimmers to the Great Lakes Zone Championships in Bowling Green March 19 to 21.

The meet features top YMCA swimmers from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia.

Price helps Denison

softball team

The Denison (Granville) University women’s softball team earned a 3-1 victory over Ithaca (N.Y.) College in the third-place game of the Bronze Championship Bracket at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Leadoff Classic recently in Panama City Beach, Fla.

Hudson graduate Hannah Price, a sophomore, drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly to right field.

She also had a single during a recent 3-0 win over Central (Iowa) College.

 

Keenan plans to run

in Boston Marathon

Hudson resident Daniel Keenan, 35, plans to run in the Boston Marathon.

He plans to raise thousands of dollars for those who suffer from life-threatening liver diseases.

As a member of the American Liver Foundation’s Run for Research® team, Keenan is helping more than 30 million Americans who suffer from liver disease.

 

Bucci leads Penn State lacrosse program

The visiting Penn State women’s lacrosse team earned a 12-8 victory over Delaware recently.

Hudson resident Theresa Bucci, a senior midfielder, scored a career-high five goals, including the game-winner, and added one assist for Penn State.

 

Baseball offered

Charette fares well

Hudson graduate Isaac Charette, a freshman on the Kent State University men’s golf team, shots rounds of 83 and 75, respectively, during the first two rounds of play at the General Hackler Championship recently at Murrells Inlet, S.C.

 

Grad plays lacrosse

Western Reserve Academy graduate Phil Chapman is a junior on the Wheaton (Mass.) College men’s lacrosse team.
