Music series continues at St. Mary Church Continuing the celebration of St. Mary Church's 150-year anniversary, the Music Concert Series continues with an offering of organ and bagpipe selections on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the church. This concert will feature organists Mark Ludwig II, music director at St. Mary; David Uschold, music director at Holy Family in Parma; and Jason Lorenzon, music director emeritus at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Northfield. Joining them will be Ian Crane, choir and band director at Benedictine High School and former instructor of bagpipes at Edinboro University. This concert will offer traditional piping music for bagpipes and organ from German, British and American composers including Mozart and Elgar. Concerts in the series are open to the public and free. Scholarship The St. Mary's Men's club awards a $1,500 scholarship to a high school senior who is a member of St. Mary Church. This scholarship is open to any high school senior whose family are parishioners of St. Mary; regardless of which high school he or she attends. Home-schooled students are also eligible to apply. The scholarship, which is paid directly to the student, is for educational training, beyond high school at any college, university, seminary, convent or technical school. The criteria for this scholarship are based on personal commitment and involvement in faith, community service, extracurricular activities, character and leadership and academic record. "Academic achievement" is not a main criterion. All paperwork is completed online. Students may obtain the application by e-mailing to GetApp@Jaeklegroup.com. The application deadline is 8 a.m. April 5. Lenten dinners The Men's Club of St. Mary Church sponsor its Lenten Seafood Dinners on Fridays through March 26. The dinners are served in the lower hall of St. Mary Church, 340 N. Main St. in Hudson. Doors open at 5 p.m.; the last order is taken at 7:30 p.m. Call ahead at 330-650-0722 ext. 244, or order online at http://www.stmaryhudson.cc/seafood. >Moms group meets every other Monday A Christian fellowship of moms with young children, iMom, meets every other Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Hudson, 47 Aurora St. It meets in the third floor youth room to discuss various topics of interest as determined by the group. Childcare will be provided on-site. Participants do not need to be members of the church to join us. Reservations are not required, but appreciated. Moms meet for prayer Moms In Touch International gathers moms together to pray for children and schools. Presbyterian Church hosts The Presbyterian Church of Hudson (PCUSA) hosts Lenten Reflections on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. with a covered dish dinner followed at 6:45 by a discussion about Christian values in a global world. The public is welcome to join. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday School, exploring the genre and theological content found in the book of Psalms, begins at 9:15 am in Parish Hall.
