Hudson -- A 53-year-old Ravenna Street man reported on March 6 that someone used his identification to get $40,380 in loans without his consent. According to a police spokesperson, the two loans were taken out from Jan. 9 to Aug. 10, 2007. He said he became aware of the fraud when a loan agency called him to tell him his loan payment was overdue. A suspect from Chagrin Falls was named. An investigation is pending. Domestic violence March 4. Husband arrested: A 42-year-old Hudson man was arrested and charged with domestic violence and endangering children and taken to Summit County Jail after police responded to a dropped 911 call. According to a police spokesperson, the man's wife came home to find her husband, who was watching their 3-year-old child, intoxicated. She said her husband grabbed her by the throat and threw her down. She was not treated, but did have a "red mark" on her cheek. According to the report, police removed 11 firearms, including handguns, shotguns and rifles, and ammunition from the home. Theft March 5. Possessions stolen: A 51-year-old Hudson woman said all her belongings were taken from a locker room area at East Woods Elementary School while she was at the natatorium at 2:30 p.m. According to the police report, she had left her clothing, eyeglasses, shoes and identification on a bench in the locker area. Everything was taken. Loss was estimated at $486. March 5. Calculator taken: A 17-year-old student at Hudson High School said his $130 calculator was taken from his backpack while he was at an athletic practice. Identity theft March 7. Identity used to get money: A North Main Street business woman said someone was using her name to solicit money from her e-mail contacts. An investigation is pending. March 2. Fraudulent check issued: A Stone Road business man said someone used the business checking account numbers to write a fraudulent check for $6,730. An investigation is pending. March 4. Business check passed: A Corporate Drive business man reported someone issued a fraudulent check in the business name for $2,396. An investigation is pending. Burglary March 3. Xbox stolen: An Easthaven Drive resident said an Xbox game system and games were removed from her home sometime between 9 and 10:30 a.m. There were no signs of forced entry. Loss is estimated at $500. An investigation is pending. March 1. Cab driver reports crime: An Akron cab driver called police when he saw the fare he just dropped off on Groton Drive attempting to break into a home at 8:46 a.m. According to a police spokesperson, a 34-year-old Akron man, the son of the homeowner, broke a $20 basement window, entered the home, and took $48.35. The man was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief and taken to Summit County Jail. Criminal trespassing March 8. Two warned: A 20-year-old Hudson woman and a 24-year-old Brecksville man were observed in a vehicle in a business parking lot at 9:55 p.m. on Hudson Drive by a patrolman. The pair was warned they were trespassing and left the area. Operating a vehicle
March 7. Georgia man arrested: A 37-year-old Georgia semi driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a blood alcohol test after he drove his commercial rig off the side of the road on state Route 303 at Stow Road shortly before midnight. According to the police report, the man failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Hudson Police Department. He was later released on a personal recognizance bond. The vehicle was towed. March 7. Canton man charged: A 28-year-old Canton man was arrested and charged with operating an unsafe vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated on Hammontree Drive at 1:18 a.m. According to the police report, the officer stopped the vehicle because the side-view mirror was dangling. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Hudson Police Department. His vehicle was towed. He was later released on a personal recognizance bond. Criminal mischief March 6. Mailbox damaged: A Towbridge Drive resident said someone damaged his mailbox between 9 and 10 p.m. Damage was estimated at $25.
