Radcom principal named Associate Fellow

Angela Dianetti, a principal of Hudson-based Radcom, a technical communications firm, will be named as an Associate Fellow for the Society of Technical Communication this May at the annual STC conference in Dallas.

The honor of Associate Fellow is conferred only upon senior members who have attained distinction in the field of technical communication through achievements and contributions to the profession and society. Also, candidates are nominated by a committee composed of fellows and associate fellows.

"It is such a privilege for me to receive the honor of Associate Fellow," Dianetti said. "I am thrilled to be in a group with other distinguished members of STC who are also receiving this honor."

Dianetti is a founding member of Radcom Inc., a regional technical communication, training development, and human capital services consulting firm based in Hudson.

She is an active member of STC. She has spoken several times at the international conference and has coordinated several regional conferences for the Northeast Ohio chapter.

In addition, she has served as co-chair of the NEO STC programs committee, conducted a salary survey, was manager for two regional conferences, and has been published in the STC magazine Intercom.

Director joins Radcom

Radcom, a Hudson- based consulting firm, has recently acquired Dan Konfal as the director of the newly-developed human capital services department. Konfal's main responsibilities are to develop and promote this new service offering and act as the primary strategist and project lead for all human capital projects.

Before joining Radcom, Konfal was contracted to work on several projects for the company.

"What we received [from Dan] exceeded our expectations in practicality, attention to detail, and analytics," said Bob Dianetti, president of Radcom. "Dan is an exceptional manager and leader, and we are privileged to have him on board for this new endeavor."

Konfal as worked in many key industries, including training and development, manufacturing, construction and information technology.

Restaurant to host family fun night

Marcelita's Restaurant will host its second annual Family Fun Night March 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. in conjunction with Community First's Ready, Set, Relax program.

Learn about new discoveries in nutrition

The Northern Ohio Wellness Connection will present "Important New Discoveries in Nutrition Research," a video documentary by Michael Greger, on March 13 at 2 p.m. at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, 200 Laurel Lake Drive.

Dr. Greger is a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker who serves as the director of public health and animal agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States.

He teaches about the power of certain foods to prevent and cure many of the chronic degenerative diseases that afflict so many Americans.

After the 60-minute video presentation, speakers Dr. Ana Hirsh-Toth and Jim Toth, president of the Northern Ohio Wellness Connection, will lead a question and answer session.

The Northern Ohio Wellness Connection advocates vegetarianism for its environmental, health and spiritual benefits.

Greenwood at Laurel Lake honored

Greenwood at Laurel Lake in Hudson was listed at No. 10 among the top 25 residential care facilities for resident satisfaction in 2009 by the Ohio Department of Aging.

The ranking is the result of the 2009 Long-term Care Resident Satisfaction Survey, released by the Ohio Department of Aging on March 4.

The average nursing home satisfaction score among 558 participating assisted living facilities statewide was 85.85 (out of a possible 100). Greenwood at Laurel Lake scored 98.04. The Crown Center at Laurel Lake scored 90.79.

"This high resident satisfaction rating demonstrates the quality services that our staff provides to the residents on a daily basis," said Stephanie Covas, director of Greenwood/Crown Center.

The survey was conducted between August 2009 and January 2010 by Vital Research LLC. Residents were asked to rate their satisfaction with the facility's features.

Greenwood at Laurel Lake, the assisted living neighborhood at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, opened in 2004. The Crown Center is Laurel Lake's 75-bed skilled nursing facility.

Chamber offers education series

The Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off an Executive Education Series will four classes starting in March and ending in November. These classes are targeting business owners, CEOs and C-level management.

Session I -- "Finance, Accounting & Tax Implications Your Business Can't Afford to Miss" -- is March 19 at the Barlow Community Center Memorial Room. Sessions will be in a round-table format and participants will meet with experts for 30 minutes.

The experts for this session include CPA Steve Chiarappa of Chiarappa & Associates Ltd., and Liz Kuonen, market manager and vice president of business banking in the treasury management division of National City Bank, will discuss fraud prevention.

For Chamber members, each class is $50; four sessions cost $150. The cost for non-members is $75 per session or $225 for the series.
