The Akron Ceili Band will perform the traditional music of Ireland at the Hudson Library and Historical Society March 11 at 7 p.m. in the Flood Family Meeting Room.

A Ceili (pronounced KAY-lee) is a "coming together" of friends, family and neighbors as a diversion from life's troubles or to celebrate an event.

The Akron Ceili Band specialize in the traditional tunes of Ireland, often performed with a mixture of traditional and non-traditional instruments, which adds a unique and lively sound that is all their own.

The band is non-traditional in the fact that they incorporate bodhrans (Irish drums), guitars, whistles (known as feadogs in Ireland), mandolins and even stand-up bass.

All ages are welcome at this free program, and no registration is necessary.
