Hudson High School seniors can apply for scholarships

The Hudson Public Schools Endowment Fund will offer numerous scholarships to students who will be graduating from Hudson High School this spring. Applications for the following scholarships are available through the high school guidance office and are due by the close of school March 11.

The Marion C. Albee Education Scholarship is available to a student who plans to pursue a college degree in education, and has demonstrated a desire to succeed and have been active in extracurricular and/or community activities.

Emily and Donald Barlow Scholarships are available to students who have demonstrated academic ability, leadership and high moral standards.

The Helen Barlow Art Scholarship is available for a student who has pursued the study of art throughout high school and plans to continue this study in college or through an art institute.

The Hudson Bicentennial Scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated exemplary community service, and attained a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Arthur Caniglia Scholarship provides aid for those students who exhibit financial need; a history of taking courses in vocational, industrial, applied arts or business during high school; and plan to pursue a chosen vocation at Kent State University.

The Les Dingledine Memorial Scholarship is available to one male baseball player and one female softball player based on team contribution, leadership and individual performance.

The Hudson Fire Department Association Scholarship is awarded to a student who is the child or dependent of an active member of the Hudson Fire Department who will pursue any higher education degree, or a student who plans to pursue a two or four year degree in the field of public safety (i.e., criminal justice, fire protection, emergency medical service or fire engineering ) at an accredited school.

The student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

The Rosemary Gibbes Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who has created opportunities leading to increased understanding of the differences and similarities between people of different backgrounds and cultures.

The Ronald McGrainor Engineering Scholarship is awarded to a Hudson High School senior who has maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher and plans to pursue a degree in engineering.

The Margaret McGrainor Art Scholarship is given to a Hudson High School senior who has maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher, completed at least three years of art during high school, and plans to attend a college and major in art.

The Taste of Hudson Scholarship goes to a Hudson High School senior who plans to attend an accredited educational institution to pursue a career in the culinary arts and/or event planning.

The Pauline Klupinski Memorial Scholarship is given to a student who has been involved in the special education program (IEP) for at least one full year and plans to enroll in a post high school education program.

Burton D. Morgan Foundation Scholarships are given to well-rounded students who have demonstrated personal goals of perpetuating and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit, high moral standards, and leadership ability.

The June Young Pak Memorial Scholarship is for a member of the Hudson lacrosse team who plans to pursue higher education and has demonstrated exceptional team spirit and support by serving as a loving neighbor to others.
