15-year-old violinist to perform

Music from The Western Reserve will highlight violinist Chad Hoopes, 15, of Shaker Heights, at its March 14 concert at 5 p.m. in the Chapel on the campus of Western Reserve Academy.

Hoopes has performed with numerous ensembles throughout the world, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra and Pittsburgh Symphony.

In summer 2009, Hoopes performed in recital at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland, as well as in Wales, Oslo and London.

Hoopes began his violin studies at 4 in Minneapolis with Nancy Lokken and continued with Sally O'Reilly at the University of Minnesota. He studies with David Cerone at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

He was a student in the ENCORE School for Strings for four summers and has also studied at the Kent/Blossom Festival, the Bravo School for Strings and the Meadowmount School for Music.

Presented by Music from The Western Reserve, the concert is sponsored by The Tobin Fund for Culture, Arts and Preservation.

Tickets are $15 for adults; students are complimentary. Tickets may be purchased at the door at The Learned Owl Book Shop or at Western Reserve Institute of Music.
