Create a book trailer

Local teens can create trailers for their favorite books during Teen Tech Week, and present them at a Book Trailer Premier Party March 13 at 2 p.m. This year's theme is Learn, Create, Share @ Your Library.

Teen Tech Week is a national initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults. From March 7 to 13, the library will highlight the uses of non-print resources for education and recreation.

Teens can participate by producing a book trailer, which is just like a movie trailer, of their favorite teen book. This is a short video or photo montage set to music that illustrates the story and atmosphere of a book in order to pique the interest of the potential reader.

Librarians and volunteers will be available by appointment to tutor students on Microsoft Movie Maker after school during Teen Tech Week.

Participants can watch their trailers with their friends at a premier party March 13. The book trailers will also be posted on the library's Web site.

All trailers must be submitted by e-mail or in DVD format by March 12 for approval. Interested teens can look at the Hudson Library Teen Zone blog to see sample book trailers at hudsonteenzone.blogspot.com.
