"Book Chat with Mary McDonald" features a visit with Joyce Dyer, Hudsonite and Hiram professor. Her new book, "Goosetown: Reconstructing an Akron Neighborhood" is an investigative memoir.
On the weekend, a talk by author/illustrator David Macaulay about his book "The Way We Work" was taped at Kent State University. Macaulay was the keynote speaker at the opening of the Marantz Picturebook Collection on the third floor of the Kent State Library and agreed to allow HCTV to show his presentation.
On March 11 at 1 p.m., Hudson Cable TV is participating in The National Association for Music Education's "2010 World's Largest Concert" event. HCTV will show their sing-along concert at the predetermined time, along with many other public access stations across the country, to promote Music in Our Schools Month. The program will continue to be shown at other times.
Hudson Rotary Club presents Hudson City Manager Anthony Bales.
The City Club of Cleveland presents Stephanie McHenry, president of ShoreBank in Cleveland, talking about "Banking to Change the World: Creating Jobs and Empowering Communities."
A new edition of Financial Planning Forum, presented by Don Tharp, is titled "2010 Forecasts: Past & Present."
Sharing Miracles, produced by Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, present "Ultimate Warrior" about basketball star Alonzo Mourning's win over a life-threatening disease.
The 2010 Ellis Island event at East Woods School will be shown many times this week.
Several programs from the HCTV archives will be shown, including the Joe Eszterhas lecture at the Hudson library, Actors' Summit presentation to the Hudson Woman's Club, Hillbilly Idol concert at Case-Barlow Farm, the HHA plaque research of the Humphrey House by Roger and Ann Engle, Dr. Hyser talking about James Ellsworth, "Historic Colors of Architecture" lecture by Pat Eldredge and the 2004 Brass Taxi concert of the Hudson Summer Music Festival.
