by Ron Seman The Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission is seeking ideas from veterans and other members of the community in order to shape future state services for people with disabilities. RSC Administrator Michael Rench is planning a 12-city trip to gather ideas. Operating under the theme, "Café Conversations," the free sessions will ask participants to share their experiences and situations during café-style discussions. Attendees will gather in small groups to share thoughts on issues that are genuinely important to their lives, work experiences and communities. Ideas presented will be used to shape future state services for people with disabilities such as employment, vocational rehabilitation, transition youth and independent living. Café Conversation sessions will be in Youngstown on March 14 at the Butler Institute of American Art, Butler N. Ed. Center, 524 Wick Ave., from 4 to 6 p.m.; and in Akron on March 18 at the Helen Arnold Community Learning Center, 450 Vernon Odom Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m. Interested in attending? Then call 800-282-4536, ext. 1470, or e-mail brenda.Rhodes@rsc.state.oh.us to RSVP. Let them know which session you will attend, and the number of guests you will bring. Sign language interpreters will be at the meetings. All are welcome. -:-:-:- The Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission is the state agency charged with partnering with Ohioans with disabilities to obtain or retain jobs, achieve independence and Social Security disability determination outcomes.
