Relax on March 11

Hudson families will have the opportunity to participate in Hudson Family Night: Ready, Set, Relax! on March 11, sponsored by Hudson Community First. This night is dedicated to relaxing and spending time with the family without the pressures of homework and after school and evening activities.

Door open at 6 for Tressel presentation

Ticket holders for the Community First 7 p.m. presentation on March 8 at Hudson High School auditorium by The Ohio State University Head Football Coach Jim Tressel must bring their tickets to be admitted into the presentation.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with first-come, first-serve seating; $100 reception ticket holders should bring their tickets to the high school media center at 5:30 p.m.

Breast Cancer Support Group meets March 5

The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet March 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Luther Room at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2113 Ravenna St. in Hudson. Guests may bring lunch.

Seasons Road work may close crossing on trail

Starting March 1 and continuing until Oct. 1, contractors for the city of Stow will be completing roadwork on Seasons Road between Wyoga Lake and Allen roads, which may affect the Metro Parks district's 33.5-mile Bike & Hike Trail in one location.

Though officials expect the Bike & Hike Trail and all parking lots to remain open during the work, there could be times when the crossing at Seasons Road may need to be temporarily closed. Signs will be posted to notify visitors, who can also get updates on the park district's Facebook page, linked from summitmetroparks.org.

Have breakfast with blue herons March 6

Old Trail School, Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association and Cuyahoga Valley National Park will present the third annual Blue Heron Day Celebration: Breakfast with the Birds March 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Trail School, 2315 Ira Road in Bath. Breakfast will be served until noon.

The event will highlight the mission to protect and preserve Cuyahoga Valley National Park while educating future generations about the blue heron, and environmental and habitat protection.

Blue Heron Day begins with a pancake breakfast. There will be various educational activities, crafts, photos, puppet shows and more to allow guests to learn about herons and their habitat.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger are free.

Local groups
can apply for funds

The Hudson League for Service is accepting applications for funds to be given to Hudson organizations.

Each year, the League sponsors activities including the Ice Cream Social during Hudson Days in June, and a fall book fair. Funds raised are used to finance League for Service projects including the Red Cross Bloodmobile, vision screening, Community Service, Caroling on the Green and a college scholarship for a Hudson resident. The remaining funds are given to the Hudson City Schools media centers and other organizations that support the Hudson community.

Community Service Association meets

Hudson Community Service Association will meet March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Barlow Community Center. The speaker will be Cindy McGill of "Dogs Deserve Better." For more information, call Martha Marsh at 330-653-6509.

Blossom Women
to meet March 4

The Hudson Blossom Women's Committee will host a winter social gathering March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Lisa Brummer. All members are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend. Call 330-656-1724 for more information.
