Society of Artists
to meet March 1

The Hudson Society of Artists will meet March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Barlow Community Center. There will be a demonstration by Barbara Zimmerman. Visitors are welcome.

The Hudson Society of Artists will meet March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Barlow Community Center for a demonstration by Paul St. Denis.

Comedy act to support Relay For Life

Hudson Newcomers and Hudson Preschool Parents will present Hudson's Lynn DaCosse and her one-woman comedy show "Life with the Flaps Down" March 4. DaCosse is a mother of four, breast cancer survivor and stand-up comic.

Her comedy show is a hilarious look at the absurdities of motherhood. All proceeds from this show will benefit the Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. The show will take place at Lake Forest Country Club; doors and cash bar open at 7:30, and the show begins at 8.

Tickets are $20 and available by calling 330-715-8673. They must be ordered by March 1.

Blossom Women
to meet March 4

The Hudson Blossom Women's Committee will host a winter social gathering March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Lisa Brummer. All members are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend. Call Brummer at 330-656-1724 for more information.

Scouts serve spaghetti

Hudson Boy Scout Troop 327 will sponsor an "all you can eat" spaghetti dinner fundraiser Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hudson United Methodist Church, 2600 Hudson-Aurora Road. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 years and younger. Tickets are available from any Troop 327 Scout and at the door. Speaker to discuss prayer quilts

Nancy Gary, coordinator of the Hudson Prayer Quilt Ministry, will be the guest speaker at the Woman's Club of Hudson on March 1 at 1 p.m. at the Hudson Library and Historical Society. Gary will give a background history of the ministry founded by Karen Verneer. Verneer, a former Hudson resident, was the parish nurse for both the First Congregational Church of Hudson and St. Mary Church.

A tea will follow the program. Guests are welcome.

Members of the Hudson Prayer Quilt Ministry are volunteers from their churches. The lap size quilts are personalized to the interests and tastes of the recipients, including children. Anyone can request a quilt for a special intention. The members design the quilt, select fabrics, cut and sew each quilt.

Members are asked to say a prayer as they knot the threads of the quilts. Each quilt is blessed by a minister or a priest before it is presented to the recipient.

Special Olympians sought in bocce, track and field

Hudson Special Olympics has begun accepting registrations for bocce and track and field to begin in late March. As a volunteer organization, its goal is to provide sports training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and older who reside within the boundaries of the Hudson school district. Entering its 10th year, Hudson Special Olympics has almost 70 athletes participating in six sports.

Legion Auxiliary meets for pork chop dinner

Lee Bishop Unit 464 American Legion Auxiliary will meet March 3 at 6 p.m. for a pork chop dinner at Western Reserve Christian Church, 516 W. Streetsboro St. Reservations are required by March 1 and can be made to Cindy Rothgery, 2666 Norton Road, Stow 44224. A check for $9 serves as a reservation. Call 330-650-2109 for more information.

Community Service Association meets

Hudson Community Service Association will meet March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Barlow Community Center. The speaker will be Cindy McGill of "Dogs Deserve Better." For more information, call Martha Marsh at 330-653-6509.

FOP/FOPA plan
reverse raffle, dinner

The FOP Northwest Lodge 123 and FOPA Northwest Lodge 68 will host their annual Reverse Raffle fundraiser on March 27 at the Clarion Inn in Boston Heights. The grand prize is $1,000.

Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m., and dinner will be at 7. Tickets are $50 for dinner (chicken or steak) and the raffle, or $30 for dinner only.For tickets, call Ray McFall at 330-650-1258.
