Learn to sell yourself in job interview The Hudson Job Search meeting for March 1 will feature Marvin Montgomery, a sales and customer service consultant for ERC Services Inc. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St. Sign-in starts at 7:15. Montgomery will speak on "How to Sell Yourself during an Interview." He will take the point of view that the interviewee should use the same tools, skills and techniques one should use to sell a product or service to gain rapport, raise confidence and interview the interviewer. Montgomery will stress the importance of being organized, enthusiastic, persistent, honest, sincere and confident not only in the interview, but also throughout the entire career transition phase. Hudson Job Search meetings take place the first and third Monday evenings at Christ Church Episcopal. The meetings are free and open to the public. Laura and Reed Stith of Hudson recently became the owner of the First & Main flower shop, which specializes in fresh flower arrangements, silk flowers, gifts, antiques and more. The store also provides party supplies and flowers for weddings, parties, funerals and holidays. The store is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join local authors The Learned Owl Book Shop will celebrate new authors in the community by hosting an afternoon of book signing, brainstorming and refreshments, featuring locally written books for adults and children, on Feb. 27. Everyone is welcome to meet the authors, who will sign their books in shifts from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Most of the children's authors are scheduled from 11 to 1 p.m. The afternoon brainstorming session, an informal chat about the processes of writing and getting published, is also open to all, and runs from 2 to 3 p.m. For more information, call 330-653-2252. Book explores Joyce Dyer, author of "Goosetown: Reconstructing an Akron Neighborhood," will sign her book on March 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Learned Owl Book Shop, 204 N. Program looks at new discoveries in nutrition The Northern Ohio Wellness Connection will present "Important New Discoveries in Nutrition Research," a video documentary by Michael Greger, on March 13 at 2 p.m. at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, 200 Laurel Lake Drive. Dr. Greger is a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker who serves as the director of public health and animal agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States. He teaches about the power of certain foods to prevent and cure many of the chronic degenerative diseases that afflict so many Americans. After the 60-minute video presentation, speakers Dr. Ana Hirsh-Toth and Jim Toth, president of the Northern Ohio Wellness Connection, will lead a question and answer session.
