The Men's Club of St. Mary Church will sponsor its Lenten Seafood Dinners for the 25th year.

The club will kick off the season Feb. 12 with a "Fat Friday Dinner," featuring all the regular menu selections, plus a special steak and shrimp entrée.

The Friday dinners will continue for six additional weeks, concluding March 26.

The dinners are open to the public and attracts people from all over the Greater Cleveland/Akron/Canton area.

The dinners are served in the lower hall of St. Mary Church, 340 North Main St. in Hudson. Doors open at 5 p.m.; the last order is taken at 7:30 p.m.

Patrons may dine in or carry out.

Back in 1985, according to co-chair Carl Walko, it truly was simply a "Fish Fry." Now the menu features 21 different selections, including some offerings for children and healthy options like grilled/baked salmon, rice and vegetables.

In addition to the regular menu items, new to the menu is lobster ravioli with a bisque sauce and a lobster bisque soup with sherry.

The complete menu is as follows: The large dinners (includes french fries or pasta, coleslaw, a roll and butter) are: baked breaded whitefish filet; grilled lemon pepper whitefish filet; beer battered fried whitefish; breaded fried shrimp; breaded fried clam strips; grilled stuffed shrimp with pasta marinara; fish, shrimp and clam strip combo; grilled salmon with rice and vegetables; grilled crab cakes with rice and vegetables; cheese and potato pierogies; and pasta with marinara sauce. The kids menu consists of fish sandwich and fries; macaroni and cheese; and a 7-inch pizza. Side dishes are cheese and potato pierogies; fries; onion rings and mixed vegetables. Desserts are freshly baked pies, cakes, and large cookies. The beverage selection is coffee, hot tea, soft drinks, and milk.

St. Mary plans
Mardi Gras party

St. Mary Church will host its Mardi Gras party Feb. 13.

The black tie-optional ball will feature Monte Carlo-style games, sideboard raffles, a silent auction, and a live auction boasting items that can't be found anywhere else. New this year are slot machines and a Texas Hold'em Tournament ($200 entry fee with a $1,000 cash prize). Revelers will play to win prize bundles worth more than $1,000.

Heavy appetizers catered by Moe's Restaurant and wine will add to the evening, which benefits the St. Mary LIFE TEEN Youth Ministry program.

The program's goal is to lead teens closer to Christ through the Eucharist, fellowship and faith sharing. The Mardi Gras Gala will help fund retreats, social outings, and service projects.

The party starts at 7 p.m.; tickets are $70/person. Festive beads of purple (justice), green (faith), and gold (power) are encouraged.

For more information, contact the LIFE TEEN office at 330-653-8118 ext. 257 or mpompili@stmaryhudson.cc.
