Hudson -- A 36-year-old Stow woman was arrested Jan. 5 at the JoAnn Stores parking lot after allegedly assaulting a woman she told police was in a car with her husband.

The Stow woman was charged with second-degree felonious assault and domestic violence, a misdemeanor, and taken to Summit County Jail. She was later released after posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond.

The assault charge is a felony because the victim was pregnant, according to a Hudson police spokesperson. The suspect's husband also is listed as a victim on the police report, hence the domestic violence charge.

The case was bound over to a grand jury after a preliminary hearing, slated for Jan. 14 at Stow Municipal Court before Judge Kim Hoover, was waived.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the 28-year-old pregnant Streetsboro woman at 4:15 p.m. at the Darrow Road lot. The victim, who had facial injuries, was treated on the scene and released.

According to a police spokesperson, the Stow woman said she was picking up her children at a childcare facility when she saw her second car in the JoAnn lot.

She saw a pregnant woman behind the wheel and saw her husband in the passenger seat.

The victim called police, and the Stow woman was arrested at the scene.
