Hudson -- Currier and Ives would have loved to capture downtown in a 19th century lithograph print during the city's annual Holiday Walk, with its twinkling lights, horse-drawn carriage rides and bustling shoppers.

Hudson Holiday Walk festivities are planned for Dec. 6 from noon to 6 p.m. with participating merchants from First & Main, Main Street, the Acme plaza and around Hudson.

"First & Main's goal for the Holiday Walk is to honor the rich tradition of the holidays in Hudson," said Gretchen Filon of First & Main Property Management. "We are inviting our guests to embrace the spirit of the season."

The Hudson Holiday Walk is in its 25th year, with First & Main joining in with festivities for the sixth year.

"By attending this event, families have the opportunity to create wonderful holiday memories that will last a lifetime," Filon said. "The Hudson Holiday Walk is quite unique and charming."

Liz Murphy, owner of the Learned Owl Book Shop, said the Holiday Walk Dec. 6 and Come to Hudson for the Holiday, which was Nov. 27, allow visitors to experience the old-fashioned charm of the holidays.

"We really aren't putting a big press on shopping," Murphy said. "Naturally, we're hoping people will shop when they come, but we want people to enjoy the experience of Hudson all dressed up for the holidays."

The streets, trees and shop windows are lit up with colorful lights, and fresh greenery decorates lamp posts, the Clocktower and doorways. Shops will offer sales, giveaways and activities, while a variety of community organizations will provide entertainment.

"If you haven't see it, you're really missing something," Murphy said.

There will be live reindeer on the First & Main Green from Sell's Christmas Tree and Reindeer Farm in Wakeman from noon to 5 p.m. There will be a sleigh prop where parents can take photos.

The First Congregational Church is providing volunteers for a live Nativity on the Clocktower Green from noon to 6 p.m.

Free horse-drawn carriage rides will be available starting in front of Chico's. Two carriages from Rosewood Carriage Service of Litchfield will give rides around the block from 1 to 4 p.m.

Santa will visit with kids at the Wild Bird Center from 12:30 to 2 p.m., at My Little Red Wagon from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and at The Learned Owl Book Shop from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Frosty the Snowman will be in First & Main to welcome guests from noon to 6 p.m.

The Western Reserve Community Band will perform carols from 1 to 3 p.m. in front of Howard Hanna; and in late afternoon they will lead the Caroling on the Green at the Gazebo.

Performers include roving carolers from Seton Catholic School, the Majestic Voice Chorus from Canton at a yet-to-be-determined location, and A Children's Theater carolers, who will sing Christmas carols in front of Nicky Nicole at 2:30 p.m.

MJ Lehman, owner of Nicky Nicole on First Street, said the caroling, music and free activities create a special experience.

"It's really a fun time and a great day," Lehman said.
