by Tim Troglen Reporter Hudson -- A plethora of holiday music and entertainment awaits unwrapping during the annual Holiday Walk Dec. 6 from noon to 6. Those in the mood for tuneful good tidings and choruses of the Christmas season will have their stockings filled with several seasonal selections by various groups. Group sing-a-longs, as well as individual Yule Tide performances, will ring along the Holiday Walk path. The Western Reserve Community Band will perform in front of Howard Hanna on Main Street from 1 to 3 p.m. Carolers from "A Children's Theater" will sing Christmas songs from 2 to 3 p.m. in front of Nicky Nicole on First Street. "The students of ACT are really looking forward to sharing the gift of song during the holiday walk too," said MJ Lehman, owner of Nicky Nicole. "Students are in grades three to eight and they will joined by their families and any one else who would like to sing along." She said this will mark ACT's 20th holiday season "of providing musicals and plays in the Hudson community." For those looking for a little folksy approach to the season, the "Curtis Thompson Duo" will perform at the Hudson Library and Historical Society at 2 p.m. Selections will include folk, classical and holiday tunes with Beth Thompson on flute and Michael Curtis on guitar. "Beth and Michael are seasoned performers who enjoy sharing their music to a wide range of audiences," said Margie Smith, assistant director of the library. "The duo performed many times this summer at the Weathervane Theater." She said Thompson is a performer with the Stow Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of Suite Elegance, a local chamber ensemble. She has also performed as flutist/piccolo in the Rome Festival Orchestra in Rome, Italy. Curtis, an adjunct music faculty member in guitar at Malone College, also teaches at the College of Wooster, Smith said. He has studied guitar in Uruguay and Ecuador as well as flamenco guitar in Spain and performs regularly with a variety of local musicians. To help wind down the day, Caroling on the Green will begin at 4 p.m. at the Bandstand. The Western Reserve Community Band will play, and song books will be provided. The community sing-a-long is sponsored by the Hudson League for Service. "It's been a long-standing tradition in Hudson," said Julie Lindner, League for Service member. She said caroling has traditionally started at 6 p.m. but it was changed this year to "be more integrated into the Holiday Walk." "And it will still be daylight, which will be nice," she said. "It's a great time for families to come down and enjoy." Lehman agreed. "Caroling is a great way to join the festivities and celebrate the holidays," said Lehman, a singer with the band. "The Western Reserve Community band will play many favorite holiday songs we all love to hear and it's fun to sing along. "It's such a unique day to be in Hudson and hearing all the great music is just one of the many fun things to experience." E-mail: ttroglen@recordpub.com Phone: 330-688-0088 ext. 3146 Comments
