Stow resident launches new scarf company

Jen Schwietz-Flauto, a Stow resident who grew up in Hudson, has designed a line of fashion scarves with removable and interchangeable, decorative beads and stones.

She will host a product introduction party Dec. 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Marcelita's restaurant, where she has worked for 19 years.

The product line is called Scarfe Diem, a play on the ancient Latin phrase "Carpe Diem," which has come to mean, "seize the day." Flauto added that the Scarfe Diem tagline is "Seize Your Style."

"My sister actually came up with the name after I showed her my prototype designs," she said. "I was explaining to her that my motivation in designing these was to offer people a way to take a simple but necessary accessory like a scarf and have options to make it fit not only their personal style, but also to meet the needs of different occasions."

The anti-pill fleece scarves can be worn without any embellishments, or dressed up with a variety of casual to upscale bead and stone combinations. Charms are in the works as yet another possibility, but they will not be available until next year.

In addition to the launch party at Marcelita's, Scarfe Diem Scarves and embellishments may be purchased online at www.scarfediem.com, or by calling 330-310-0597.
