Oh Christmas Tree: Annual holiday event benefits hospital (WITH VIDEO)November 23, 2009
The 2009 Holiday Tree Festival, which benefits Akron Children’s Hospital, opened Nov. 21 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The first day featured drawings for gifts, the Children’s Hospital Doggie Brigade and entertainment.
The highlights are the trees and other decorated holiday items. This year’s festival features more than 200 decorated full-size trees, wreaths, miniature trees, gingerbread displays and other holiday creations.
OPTIONAL: The decorations range from traditional and whimsical to modern. Several were decorated as a tribute to a cause or a memorial to a loved one.
The Holiday Tree Festival, which is at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron, is free, and is open through Nov. 29. Visit www.akronchildrens.org for details.
