Music from The Western Reserve will present Cleveland Brass Works, Brass Quintet, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Knight Fine Arts Center at Western Reserve Academy. The concert is sponsored by Kenneth F. Swanson. Tickets are $15 for adults, and admission is free for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or at The Learned Owl Book Store in Hudson. Music from The Western Reserve's 27th season, "Classic sounds, modern masters," features chamber music performances by outstanding artists from Northeast Ohio. All members of the quintet also are members of the Cleveland Orchestra. They are skilled in a broad range of chamber music. Quintet members are: Jack Sutte, trumpet; Michael Miller, trumpet; Jesse McCormick, horn; Massimo La Rosa, trombone; and Yasuhito Sugiyama, tuba. Their performance includes Russian composer Viktor Ewald's Quintet No. 3 and Colchester Fantasy by Cleveland native Eric Ewazen. Prior to his Cleveland appointment in 1999, Sutte of Wisconsin, was the principal trumpet in the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway. A native of Cleveland Heights, Miller previously served as principal trumpet of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra from 2002 to 2006. Prior to coming to Cleveland, McCormick was a member of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and of the Denver Brass. Prior to joining the Cleveland Orchestra, La Rosa served as the principle trombonist with the Orchestra at "La Fenice" Theatre in Venice from 1998 to 2007. He was born in Palermo, Sicily. Sugiyama of Hyogo, Japan, was previously a member of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra (Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra) from 2003 to 2005. Comments
